Projects Update
An update from Carl and Sigi:
As the end of our time in Haiti comes to a close, we want to share with you
a quick update regarding the ongoing Orphanage Maintenance Projects.
*PATIO – COMPLETED*
The patio in front of the orphanage was completed in the middle of March. It
has transformed the area for the kids, providing them with a large,
enclosed flat space to sit, play, and enjoy in any way they please. It has
also had the added benefit of reducing the amount of scrapes, cuts, and
injuries, as well lessened the wear and tear on their shoes and clothes. We
have had a blast using the flat space for a variety of games, art projects,
and such, as all of these activities were difficult on the rocky, uneven
hill that existed before.
*PLUMBING – COMPLETED*
The plumbing project was completed this last weekend when we connected the
final pieces of PVC that carry water to the tank. Two new bathrooms with
toilets, sinks, and showers were installed in the house, and the existing
third bathroom pipes connected the overall system. Outside, a new tower
for a 600-gallon water tank was built. It was so exciting to see running
water in the orphanage and hear a few of the kids share, with smiles on
their faces, that they had used the shower for the first time.
Work on the electrical and bedding projects will begin in the near
future. Thank
you all once more for all your support!
