About Loving Haiti

Loving Haiti’s story began many years before founders Abby and Denny Bain made their first visit to Haiti in 2011. In 1982, Pastor Francois and Madam Romelus felt called to start a church in their small town of Pignon, caring for those in their congregation as well as the poor and marginalized in the area.  Already parents to four biological children, and busy pastoring a church and serving their community, Pastor and Madam began taking in orphans and other at-risk children to live with them. They soon saw the need for a separate home to house the increasing number of children in their care, and the children’s need to be educated.  Since 1982, Francois and Madam have added a children’s home, vocational sewing center and school to their 2-acre campus.

Pastor and Madam Francios

Because of Abby and Denny’s love for orphans and other marginalized people groups of Pignon and their deep desire to support Pastor Francois and Madam’s work, they began financially partnering with them in 2011. Out of months of sharing their experiences in Haiti and their hearts to help the community of Pignon, Loving Haiti was birthed in Oregon. Having moved to Colorado in 2012, it became a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) public charity organization in 2013.  Loving Haiti Inc. is governed by a board of directors and is supported by friends and family who excel at Loving on Haiti.
